Vertical of the Castle Wall

In 2008 my partner and I visited Fife for a long weekend break. While there we spent an afternoon at MacDuff's Castle in East Wemyss. The day had been generally overcast but while at the castle we were fortunate enough to experience some sunshine, which allowed us to take photos of the castle against the blue sky. This photo was one of my favourites, partly because of the contrast between the blue sky and the red stone of the castle, partly for the abstract qualities of the composition, and partly because of the detail in the worn bricks. It is a subject I aim to work with in more depth later on, exploring the shapes, colours and detail.
